How to Make Your Wedding Eco-Friendly
Flowers
Use locally-grown, pesticide- and herbicide-free (organic) flowers that are in season. This prevents the emissions from transporting them long distances, strengthens your local economy, supports pesticide-free growers and vendors, and saves you the cost of importing out-of-season blooms.
Reuse the flowers from your ceremony and the bridal party to decorate the reception area.
Grow your own flowers from bulbs such as daffodils, tulips and begonias.
Instead of cut flowers for your centerpieces, use potted plants that can double as wedding favors.
Use dried or silk flowers, and consider donating them afterward to a local hospital or nursing home.
Choose arrangements created with flower alternatives, such as blooms made of fabric, beads, or crystals, or carry a prayer book draped with dried or silk flowers or a lantern that you can use to light the unity candle.
